Pacific Golden Plover (Pluvialis fulva). It breeds in the Arctic tundra from northernmost Asia into western Alaska, nesting on the ground in a dry open areas. It is migratory and most spend winters in south Asia and Australasia while a few winter in California and Hawaii, USA. This bird forages for food on tundra, fields, beaches and tidal flats, usually by sight. It eats insects and crustaceans and some berries. Johnston Island, Johnston Atoll. |
