Greg Falxa, in the red coat, and I are installing a VHF radio repeater on the side of Mt. Erebus. This unit weighs roughly 1,200 pounds, contains two VHF 20 Watt repeaters, solar panels to recharge the onboard battery power supply, wind speed and direction recording instruments and is air-lifted by helicopter into remote locations to support science activities.
