This is a photograph of an optical phenomena where a halo forms around the sun. It's called a mock or dog sun and occurs as sunlight passes through ice crystals in the atmosphere. We were installing a radio repeater near the 7,000 foot level on the side of Mt. Erebus. The temperature that day was near minus 30 degrees Farenheit. Image - JPG 130k Photo by Keith C. Dreher
